Personal Narrative

My name is Shuowen Su, and I am a first-year graduate student in the Communication, Culture, and Technology (CCT) program at Georgetown University. I chose CCT because it provides an interdisciplinary platform to address global challenges and equips me with diverse methodologies to conduct impactful research. With an academic foundation in Marketing from China Agricultural University, I have always sought to connect theory with practice, focusing on innovative solutions to systemic issues.

During my undergraduate studies, I engaged in several projects that illuminated the critical intersections of technology, communication, and societal challenges. For instance, I worked on initiatives helping farmers sell surplus cherries, designing smart plates for elderly diabetic patients to monitor their nutritional intake, and analyzing the influence of ready-to-eat meals on dietary habits. These experiences deepened my understanding of food systems as a nexus of cultural, economic, and technological factors and inspired my commitment to equity and sustainability.

At Georgetown, my academic interests center on leveraging technology and communication strategies to improve global governance. My research employs quantitative methods, including data modeling, statistical analysis, and large-scale survey design, to examine trends and causal relationships in food distribution systems. I aim to uncover how digital platforms and policy interventions can bridge inequities and foster equitable access to resources. Through this work, I strive to provide actionable, data-driven insights that inform policy and drive sustainable change.

Looking to the future, I aspire to work in government institutions or international organizations, contributing to initiatives that address transnational challenges such as food security, climate change, and equitable resource management. I envision fostering collaboration across sectors to create adaptive systems that respond to the needs of a globalized world.

Ultimately, I believe that addressing global challenges requires a combination of rigorous research, innovative thinking, and interdisciplinary approaches. By blending my expertise in quantitative analysis, communication, and cultural understanding, I am committed to advancing global governance initiatives that ensure a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
